Take Control of Your Weight Loss

I love this quote because it encourages us to take total ownership of all we do to gain the best weight loss results. By realizing that nobody other than ourself can make the changes in our life empowers us to make everything happen.

"Today is my tomorrow.
It's up to me to shape it, to take control and seize every opportunity.
The power is in the choices I make each day.
I eat well, i live well.
I shape me."

Don't Wait, Be Proud

Each journey starts with a single step so be proud of each step you take toward your weight loss goal.

"Don't wait until you reach your goal to be proud of yourself.
Be proud of each step you take toward reaching that goal."

So today let make a little step in the right direction and keep take lots of little steps until we reach our goals. Put all your focus on your daily small step and do it to the best of your ability and do this every day and all of a sudden you will be at your weight loss goal.

The best example of this is from tennis, each player are told to focus 100% on winning each point. Do this and each game, set and match will take care of themselves. It is so true, the good player don't get distracted by the bigger picture they just concentrate on what they can do here and now and let every thing else take care of it's self from this point of power.

Make That Change

This quote is really quite empowering because it tells us that we have the power to make any changes we wish to improve our look.
"If you keep doing what you've always been doing
You're going to keep looking how you been looking"
It also reminds me of lines from the Michael Jackson 'Man in the Mirror' song:

"I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . ."
and
"I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways
And No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change"
By taking the responsibility to change youself for the better you also make the world as a whole better too, because if you are happier with yourself the world as a whole is a happier place too. This is how much power we each have as individuals. So make that change!

Correct Your Mind

What a lovely quote by Lao Tzu, it really does show that proper planning and structure of your mind can help you achieve your goals, for me this was extended upon by something Gandhi said:
"Carefully watch your thoughts, for they become your words.
Manage and watch your words, for they will become your actions.
Consider and judge your actions, for they have become your habits.
Acknowledge and watch your habits, for they shall become your values.
Understand and embrace your values, for they become your destiny.”
So very poignant and show how we can achieve anything just carefully watching our thoughts and correcting our minds.

We at Mind Body Weight Loss believe that everything starts from the mind which is why we share lots of tips, information an product information to help you get correct your mind to give you the best change of achieving your weight loss goals.

Good Health a Great Way to Live

Today I would just like to share a quick quote which moved me and really made me thing and clarify a belief of Good Health a Great Way to Live.

The quote is this:

"Good health is simply the slowest way a human being can die."
author unknown
It moved me for 2 reason one is the realisation that, as much as we may not want to, we are all going to die. We can see this all around us there is nobody alive today who was born 150 years ago. From this we work out that we are only here for a limited time only. There is nothing we can do about it. However from the quote above shares with us that with good health we can slow the dying process down. And surely slowing down so we can spend more time on this planet with the ones we love and care is great thing to do. I say this for the reason of motivation because with good health comes our optimum healthy weight. Our weight loss can just be a by product of living healthy to spend more time with our family, friends and others. So please consider this as option, stop focusing on weight loss and concentrate on being healthy and dieing (no I did not miss the 't' out of dieting, I said dieing) as slowly as possible.

Some of the best way we can get health and slow down our dieing process is by reading these blog posts:

I hope you found this post thought provoking and made you think about weight loss in a different way and motivated you to try to live in a healthy and lose weight as a by product of a healthy lifestyle to live longer.

Kind regards

Quote that Shows The Importance of Food

Following on from the post on the 'Importance of Food' I have just found this quote which helps demonstrate it further.
"Homicide is 0.8% of deaths. Diet-related death is over 60%. But no one talks about it."
Jamie Oliver Click to Tweet
So as we have said before, by eating the correct food and diet we can extend our life and spend more time with the ones we love. We can do this by following some of the tips from food expert Michael Pollan. The best part of eating healthy to extend our life is that we lose weight as a side benefit. It is abit of a Win-Win if you ask me.

Weight Loss Motivation - Don't Quit

Today I wanted to share a couple inspirational writings I have found over the last few days and they are based around the concept of not giving up or quitting.

The first is a poem by Edgar A. Guest:

Don't Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with it's twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse,
That you must not quit.

Edgar A. Guest

I love this poem because it helps us accept that things can go wrong and that we have the power to perceive them in any way which we choose, hopefully in a positive way which help us achieve our goals.

And here are some quotes that have inspired me this week to not give up:

"You gotta faith it, until you make it"
Click to Tweet
Faith can mean alot of things to alot of people but in this case I read it as having faith that every thing will turn out for the best.
"Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit.”
Conrad Hilton Click to Tweet
Don't stop moving, each morning pledge to move closer to your weight loss goal. Each evening examine in what ways you have got closer.
“The difference in winning and losing is most often… not quitting.”
Walt Disney Click to Tweet
So many people say that they achieved their goal just after the point they thought hardest about quitting so please keep going towards your weight loss goals. Mind over matter.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it.
W. C. Fields Click to Tweet
I love this quote, it is another ways of saying if one thing does not work try something else until you get what you want.
You can never quit. Winners never quit, and quitters never win.
Ted Turner Click to Tweet
Quite harsh but may be, just may be, Ted Turner is on to something. However I would mix this quote with the one above. Because what I think Ted is saying is that if you quit your goal, you will not achieve what you wish, however sometimes when working towards your goal you have to change (or quit) a strategy that is not working and move to one that is going to allow you to achieve your goal. Everything about not quitting, to me at least, should be based around what you want to achieve and working the best strategy for you to get it.

I hope the post, poem and quotes helped you focus your motivation on to your weight loss goals.

Best wishes

Desiring Weight Loss

The quote above by Eric Thomas helps demonstrate the way to develop your desire to lose weight. In the Silva Method, they say that we need 3 things to action change in our life; Desire, Belief and Expectancy. This quote helps us understand and develop our desire:

"When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breather then you will be successful"
Eric Thomas

It is extended upon by a Zen Buddhism Story which really made us think.

A hermit was meditating by a river when a young man interrupted him. "Master, I wish to become your disciple," said the man. "Why?" replied the hermit. The young man thought for a moment. "Because I want to find God."

The master jumped up, grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, dragged him into the river, and plunged his head under water. After holding him there for a minute, with him kicking and struggling to free himself, the master finally pulled him up out of the river. The young man coughed up water and gasped to get his breath. When he eventually quieted down, the master spoke. "Tell me, what did you want most of all when you were under water."

"Air!" answered the man.

"Very well," said the master. "Go home and come back to me when you want God as much as you just wanted air."

The Silva Method explains the developing of Desire, Belief and Expectancy as:

In working with our students we have discovered that lasting success with any health-related goal—whether it’s to shake off a minor ailment or reduce the symptoms of a serious illness—can only happen when you condition your mind for 3 outcomes:

  • Develop a deep desire for your goal.
  • Whole-heartedly believe that this goal is possible.
  • Fully expect this goal to happen.

We call this thought process Desire-Belief-Expectancy or D-B-E, and although it may sound simple on the surface, mastering it requires a significant level of control over your subconscious mind.

Mindful Weight Loss Tips

Mindfulness is fantastic ways to enjoy life in the moment and extend can help you lose weight here are some tips I have found recently which I would like to share with you:

Eat mindfully. Turn off the TV, put away the computer and mobile devices, even put away the book or newspaper. If you eat with any of these things (most people do), eating without them will seem boring. And yet, unless you do this, you are not truly appreciating your food. I like eating my oats (with nuts and berries — see my diet) mindfully, paying attention to each bite. It makes the food taste better, and I eat slowly and with gratefulness.
Leo Babauta

As you know we at Mind Body Weight Loss we love mindful and conscious eating and I love the way it is explained in the above quote.

Wash your bowl. When you’re done eating, wash your dish immediately. Do it while paying full attention to your washing, to the water and suds.
Leo Babauta

This extends upon the mindful eating and can continue in to the washing up, the process of mindfulness can also take place in the purchasing and preparing of the food with thanks for the people who worked to get the food to you.

Block one or more senses. Eat blindfolded, wear earplugs, shower with your eyes closed.
litemind.com

This one sounds like a different way to fully to experience the food you are eating because when one sense is muted the other become more aware and can raise your mindfulness consciousness of the food you are eating.

Mind Techniques for Weight Loss - Part 1

We love these mind techniques for weight loss below and they are a great way to help you lose weight and keep it off, why not check them out and give them a go?

1. Be patient. Losing weight in any kind of healthy way is going to take time. Give yourself a break and relax, and the weight will come off.

Be patient and kind to yourself you deserve it as much as anyone else.

2. Don’t stress. Stressing about weight loss will likely only make it harder to lose.

This is very true. We recently found an interesting article that demonstrates a way we can change our language to reduce stress. Have a look and let is know how it works for you.

3. Be realistic Setting unrealistic goals for your weight loss isn’t healthy for your body or mind. Get your mind set on more realistic accomplishments and you’ll be happier and healthier.

We hear that any goal set should be smart - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic & Time Based.

4. Create a routine. Success with any weight loss program requires creating a routine and sticking to it in what you eat, when you work out and how you think about your progress.

They say it take 28 days to get in a routine after that it starts to become a habit. 1 month of conscious effort is required.

5. Listen to your body. It will tell you when you aren’t eating enough, you’re eating too much, or you’re pushing yourself too hard.

As we say about mindful and conscious eating, listen to your body to tell you when you are full or are hungry as it already knows the answers, but if you are distracted or stress it can be hard to hear its messages.

6. Use your imagination. Our imaginations are powerful things and you can use yours to picture your body and your life the way you really want it to be.

There is evidence to show that our bodies do not know the difference between what is imagined and what is real, it reacts the same to the action as it does to imagining the action.

7. Take it slow. You cannot expect to change your mindset or your body overnight. Take the process slow and steady for the best results.

We have all heard of quick change, but does it last? We at Mind Body Weight Loss feel that weight loss should be done once and not over and over. If this means losing weight at a slower pace but keeping it off forever that must be worth it.

8. Be honest with yourself. Being honest might be more difficult or more painful, but you cannot move forward in changing your body or how you think about it without facing some hard truths about yourself.

I always say to myself that honesty sets you free, it also gives an acceptance of exactly where you are in your life from which you will then have a solid foundation to build. It is much easier to build from a solid platform than it is from a soft sandy one. Honesty and acceptance gives us that solidity.

9. Find out what you truly want. The reality is that you might not be ready to lose weight or commit yourself to the work that it takes. Find out what you truly want in your life. Knowing that you really, really want to lose weight can be a huge factor in motivating you. Source - totallyzen.com

Knowing ones purpose is the key to a happy fulling life. Why not try a visualization of your life 10 years from now, imagine what you would like it to be like. Everything exactly how you want it. This will help show you where you want to go. Also you could read the book "Man's search for meaning" by Viktor Frankl who was a in a concentration camp and found that developing a purpose is what allow us to be happy and move forward with our life.

Love and Accepting Yourself

A good place to start with this is the lyrics from "Man in the Mirror"
I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways
And No Message Could've Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself And Then Make That . . .
Take A Look At Yourself And Then Make That . . . Change!
Source - azlyrics.com
It was Louise L Hay in her book "You Can Heal Your Life" who discussed using a mirror to help accept yourself exactly as you are, she called it mirror work and it is a fantastic way to help you move towards your weight loss goal.

What she suggests you do is stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and say to yourself over and over:

"I Love and Accept You Exactly As You Are"
This affirmation is extremely powerful, both Mindful Mark and myself Can Do Craig have used this in the past to help us overcome emotional obstacles. It enabled us and will enable you too to take stock of where you are in life and what you feel about yourself. If at first it feels odd keep doing it as the results are amazing and will help create a solid foundation for you to move forward to shape the life and indeed the body you want in the future.

If you would like to discuss this further please comment below, email us or even get a copy of "You Can Heal Your Life" we highly recommend it.
