Simple Weight Loss Choice

Apart from Shawshank Redemption being my favourite film this key message in the film is very strong and poignant to weight loss.

Why I hear you ask, because some food we put in our body are helping shorten our life and others are helping extend it. the ones which help extend it are obvious and healthy for us. Now I am not saying healthy food will help us live for ever, however what I am saying is healthy food increases our chances of living longer and there for spending more time with those we love. A side effect of eating healthy is weight loss. So what is it going to be when you choose your next meal...

"I guess it comes down to simple choice, really.
Get busy living, or get busy dying."

Remember that food is our fuel so putting the best in keeps the machine (body) running to optimum level for longer, just like any machinery that is well maintained is generally going to last longer than one which is not.

I would love to hear your comments on this post.

The Power of Now for Weight Loss

The Power of Now for Weight Loss has ideas based from Eckhart Tolle's book called, you guessed it, "The Power of Now" The premise is like many other philosophies and self help suggestion that any change we want can on come from this moment right now.

The key here is to accept our current predicament exactly as it is, because from this foundation of acceptance we can control all the controllables to our life in any one of almost infinite possibilities and directions.

There is no point dwelling in the past as we can not change the past, but in the present we can change our perspective to it. For example that bad thing that happened in the past, is now my motivation to ensure I achieve my goals and prove that person wrong.

There is no point focusing too much in the future because we can only control the future by our action in this moment right now, right here. So in the moment you have the power to choose the best behavior or action to make your ideal future at your ideal weight. The power is now, the power is yours!

7 Amazing Tips On How to Visualise Losing Weight

We at Mind Body Weight Loss know how important visualization is, however you may not know how to use it in your day to day. Well! Have no fear Can Do Craig is here! Mmm, sorry about that, any way lets get to it!

Now let us start with a few home truths. You are not going to be able to do this right away you will have to practice, practice and practice. Also love the process, enjoy it and know that it will work for you! Because it will work!

1. Write down as many things as you can that you love about your self, do this every day!

2. Sit down or lie down and relax for 20-30 minutes, without any distractions. Practice until you feel relaxed for the whole 20-30 minutes.

3. When you have mastered number 2 focus on your breathing inhale though you nose and out through your mouth counting to 5 as your exhale. Again practice, practice and more practice. You will feel so relaxed, I know I do!

4. Ok! Sit down or lie down and repeat 2 and 3 together remember Practice!

5. Now you have practiced 2 and 3 together it is time to relax all the muscles in the body starting from your head all the way down to your toes.

6. Now it is time to visualise what you will look like when you are at your target weight. You will have to really feel what it would feel like, for example! Think of your self on a beach taking in the rays of the sun, putting sun lotion on your perfect new body, here the sound of the sea and birds.

7. Finally, my last tip is to smile. This really makes you feel good and happy.

I hope this little guide is helpful. Just remember to practice! It really does work it has been proven time and time again. Read more post on this very blog to see for your self.

You Are in Control

How empowering! It means that like others before you who have achieved the goals that you want you to can achieve them, if you decide too.

It is said by the Silva Method that once you decide to be who you want to be you need 3 things to make it happen:
  • Desire
  • Belief
  • Expectancy
A nice little zen story about desire makes will make you think:

A man approaches a Zen Master and asks to be shown the path to enlightenment. The Master replies, “Okay, follow me,” stands up, and walks the man to a nearby river and into the water. Without warning, the Master forces the man’s head under the water and holds it there as he struggles violently for his life, until he is nearly dead. At last the Master pulls the man up, gasping for air, and says, “When you want to be enlightened as badly as you wanted to take your next breath just now, come back and see me.
Belief, like I said earlier, if some else can do it, then there is no reason you can not achieve it too. NLP is a great believer in this by suggesting 'Modelling'. This means that following the same procedure and actions as the person who lost the weight and achieved the goal like yours. This is a great way to develop the belief because you have seen it work for somebody else.

Expectancy means expect the results to happen, and why shouldn't you because you know it will happen for you too.

Some People you may like to 'Model' your weight loss on could be:
I hope you found this post helpful in working towards your weight loss goals, we at Mind Body Weight Loss will support you in achieving this.

Mother of all Motivations

I just had to share this motivational quote I found on Tumblr it really made me think about what I want to achieve and has helped me focus my mind and body on achieving it.

"Your mother didn't spend 9 months forming you body in her just so you could destroy it. Love it and make it the best you can."
Now I know there is an element of guilt built in to the quote but as we know there is nothing we can do about the past but what we can do is right now pledge to make our body and indeed our life the best it can be.

Meal Sizes and Portion Control

I found this quote which really made me think as it fits in nicely with what I read about Buddhist weight loss.

"Eat Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a prince and Dinner like a Pauper"
Source - Work Out Box

The reason behind this is best illustrated in the picture above. but also a quote from a post entitled 'The Five Contemplations While Eating' suggests why it is better to eat more in the morning according to Buddhist monks:

"I have read an interesting way Buddhist Monks eat only in the morning and why. The theory goes something like this; In the morning one hour before and one hour after sunrise the large intestine are at the most productive. The technique the monks use is to not eat until there is enough sunlight for them to see the lines on the palms of their hands. They will eat as much as they like at this point up until the sun is at its highest point (midday). The rest of the day the can drink as much water as they wish. They say that water is a great way to plug the hunger should they have any, however if they are hungry at any point through out that day, the next morning they will have more appreciation for the food and the people who supplied it."

We would love to hear from you if this method of eating alot for breakfast, alittle less for lunch and a small dinner is something you have tried yourself and if so what results you got.

Kind regards

Zen Weight Loss Tips - Part 4

Hello welcome to our final part of Zen Weight Loss Tips.

Create a routine for what you eat – for a month, do not think of food as something to be enjoyed, think of it as fuel.

All I can say to this is Eat to live rather than Live to eat.

Take the stairs. Walk or bike ride that short distance instead of driving.

Such good advice look in to way we can do more day to day natural movement.

Everything in moderation. If you really want French fries and a hamburger, or ice cream, or a cookie… it’s OK to indulge a little occasionally. Key word is occasionally. Better to indulge a little, than to binge later.

This is so true what ever you may deny you body it may crave it. Moderation is the key but keep adding in the healthy stuff to your food routine and you will great, to learn more about this visit this post.

Permanent Fat Loss

Please check out this video and learn the code to permanent weight loss. It was developed by Shawn Stevenson who in the video below shares 3 interesting weight loss tips that you may not have heard of before.

If you would like to learn more or would like to see how people like you used this code lose over 200lbs or went from a dress size 16 to six you can by visiting the Fat Loss Code Website.

One person said:

"I tried different diets, and even joined the gym but no matter what I never lost the weight or if I did lose it, I would gain it all back and more. After getting the Fat Loss Code I started implementing everything and I began seeing results as fast as 2 weeks and ever since my weight dropped drastically and never gained it back!"
Lizzy

Please let me know how you get on with the Fat Loss Code. I always like to hear any feedback and the great results you may have achieved like Lizzy did. I always go with the premise that if someone else can do something then I can too using the same model or code. This is a core belief in NLP which has great success in helping people lose weight, a belief which I truly follow.

Zen Weight Loss Tips - Part 3

Welcome the third part of Zen Weight Loss Tips we hope you are find this series of post helpful.

This section focuses on Healthy eating.

Water water water. It kick-starts your metabolism. Stop drinking soda.
This is such great advice, I think I read somewhere that we are made up of 90% water so drinking it can only be a good thing. Also check out this post which explains what fizzy drinks does to your body it may stop you drinking them, like it did me.

Be mindful of what you are eating. Keep a food journal or diary. Seeing it in writing always gives it weight and helps reveal patterns or triggers.
Eating consciously is a fantastic way to lose weight, with no distractions you can listen to when you are full. Learn how to eat consciously from this post.

Eat mostly raw fruits, veggies and nuts.
Such a great tip which we at Mind Body Weight Loss love and have a post called 'Eat Less CRAP, Eat More FOOD' which explains more

Cut out sugar.
In the documentary 'Hungry for Change' sugar was compared to cocaine because the sugar plant like the coca plant is good for you. It is just the refining of both products which make them harmful to us as living beings.  Also check out the post title 'Sugar and Obesity' which also has an interesting excerpt from a radio show which explain Sugar and its effect on your body further.

Positive change is easier than negative change. Instead of thinking of foods that are “bad” and that you feel like you need to cut out, think about all the new recipes and foods you will get to try if you start experimenting with more vegetables, more beans, more spices, etc.
Positive change is so much better which why like the Zen Weight Loss Tip above we feel that adding and focusing on healthier foods is a much better way to lose weight. As this blog post called 'Best Weight Loss Tip, Ever! ' helps demonstrate.

Healing Food

In an interesting article discussing Healing Food really got me thinking. Mark Hyman discusses his trip to China which confirmed his belief that Food is the best medicine.

After 20 years of practice, treating thousands of patients with chronic illnesses, I recognized, yet again, that the most powerful tool in my toolkit is food. Not surgery, not medication. What I saw in China is what I have been teaching my patients for decades: to literally eat their medicine and heal through food.
However, the notion that food is anything other than calories for energy and sustaining life is foreign to most Westerners.
Source - organicconnectmag.com

This is perhaps the key to our weight issues as a western culture, we generally see food as a treat and something we deserve and then start trying to reduce our calories to lose weight. If we could change our food mindset from 'Live to Eat' into 'Eat to Live' as the Chinese do we can live a longer, healthier and happier life with those we love.

The point of taking ownership of our life and health by developing the mindset of food as the best medicine to keep us alive for the longest period of time is one we at Mind Body Weight Loss fully support. This will be the basis of our Mind Body Weight Loss Product which is currently in it's early stages of being developed.

Another method of how the Chinese have demonstrated a way that we can take control of our health is when we visit the doctors . The difference is that we generally go to the doctors when we are poorly and ask them to make us better, which is giving our power away. In Chinese traditional medicine people visit there Doctors and ask 'How can I stay healthy?', which is self empowerment at its best. This is the type of mindset we at Mind Body Weight Loss are looking to help you foster. Until this time when our product has been developed you may want to checkout these alternatives, which are quite different but do help you focus on you weight loss mindset:

Taking ownership and viewing food as a fantastic source to stay healthy with the by product of losing weight is a fantastic way to change our perception to food and life in general. This new way of thinking can really extend our motivation too because its focus is on empowering us to stay alive as long as possible to be with the ones we love.

Zen Weight Loss Tips - Part 2

Hello and welcome to this the second part of Zen Weight Loss Tips. I hope you find these as helpful as the first part:

Tell people around you what you’re doing. This will keep you motivated to continue. Don’t ask for their support, but say “I’m on this new thing where I’m going to kick my butt at the gym/road/bike today and” whatever.

As Can Do Craig says knowing what to do is only the first part actually getting up and doing it is the main part as with out this nothing will get done. So the above tip is a great one.

Weigh yourself but also take your measurements. Sometimes your scale won’t budge but your waistline will.

This is a very good point as you may feel because you have not lose weight you are not succeeding but your waistline says something else. This reminds me of an Einstein quote "...If You Judge a Fish by Its Ability to Climb a Tree, It Will Live Its Whole Life Believing that It is Stupid."

Focus on one thing at a time. Everything we do is based on habits. If you’ve got to both get into the habit of eating great AND exercising daily, you run a big risk of getting overwhelmed when you’re not seeing results or you slip a little.

This weight loss tip is about being kind to ourselves, taking one step at a time. 'Every journey start with the first step' is something I hear over and over again and it is true because you are still going to lap the person who hasn't started. If you are kind to yourself and take it in gradual steps you are more like like to reach your weight loss destination. Think of the story of the tortoise and the hare.

Focus on health and NOT weight loss. It is far more important that you live a happy, healthy life than look good naked. You’ll thank yourself when you are 80 and still lead an active life.

I could not agree with this more as I discussed in a recent post called 'Good Health a Great Way to Live' that living healthy means we can spend more time on this planet with our family, friends and loved ones, the side effect of living healthy is that we will most probably lose weight with out any neurosis about but focus on our health and the one we love.

I hope you like this second part of the Zen Weight Loss Tips, the third part will be with you soon.
