We at Mind Body Weight Loss have always believed that if you work deal with your mind first you will not lose weight quicker but you will also keep the weight off. Arnold Schwarzenegger is so right with his quote and belief:

"The mind always fails first, not the body. The secret is to make your mind work for you, not against you."

With this in mind it shows the importance of addressing the mind when it comes to your weight loss. It may seems difficult to do but really it is not as the quite a few products that will help you do this. these include:

The Importance of the Mind For Weight Loss

We at Mind Body Weight Loss love how the power of the mind helps people lose weight and this quote helps explain why:

"The body achieves what the mind believes"
The basic say to me that everything comes from a thought, before we do anything and I mean anything it is processed in the brain, either consciously or unconsciously but it is processed in the mind first. So if we control our thoughts to be those that will help us lose weight our words, behaviour and actions will then follow on from these thoughts and create our desired outcomes. This is why the mind is so powerful and why Jose Silva believed that for any meaningful change to occur we need desire, belief and an expectance that it will happen.

We, at Mind Body Weight Loss, are here to help you achieve the correct mindset for you to achieve your weight loss goals. We do this with regular posts with tips, advice and motivation. We also have 3 really helpful FREE ebooks cram packed with information, and on top of this to help you achieve the strongest beliefs to aid your weight loss we have regular eNewsletter updates for you.

So let get the weight loss mind activated and get start losing weight!

Stop Trying To Lose Weight

I know this sounds very odd advice coming from a motivational weight loss blog like Mind Body Weight Loss, but it is true in so many ways.

The first and most important part of 'trying' is that to the subconscious mind and with in hypnotherapy 'trying' presupposes failure. This is because it gives you the option to fail, you are not pledging to do it, you are just saying you are going to attempt it and the easiest way out of an attempt is to fail or quit.

So if we should not try to lose weight, what is the other option? Well I think Yoda from Star Wars put it best - "Do or Do Not. There is no try".

Can you see the difference in 'trying' to lose weight you leave yourself the easier option of failure, but by choosing to do weight loss or choosing not to do weight loss you are choosing one of the absolute options and are therefore much more like to achieve your weight loss goals.

So if you want to 'do' weight loss why not read our blog or website, sign up to our eNewsletter and checkout some of the fantastic products Mind Body Weight Loss believe can help you.

Take care and speak soon.

Good Health a Great Way to Live

Today I would just like to share a quick quote which moved me and really made me thing and clarify a belief of Good Health a Great Way to Live.

The quote is this:

"Good health is simply the slowest way a human being can die."
author unknown
It moved me for 2 reason one is the realisation that, as much as we may not want to, we are all going to die. We can see this all around us there is nobody alive today who was born 150 years ago. From this we work out that we are only here for a limited time only. There is nothing we can do about it. However from the quote above shares with us that with good health we can slow the dying process down. And surely slowing down so we can spend more time on this planet with the ones we love and care is great thing to do. I say this for the reason of motivation because with good health comes our optimum healthy weight. Our weight loss can just be a by product of living healthy to spend more time with our family, friends and others. So please consider this as option, stop focusing on weight loss and concentrate on being healthy and dieing (no I did not miss the 't' out of dieting, I said dieing) as slowly as possible.

Some of the best way we can get health and slow down our dieing process is by reading these blog posts:

I hope you found this post thought provoking and made you think about weight loss in a different way and motivated you to try to live in a healthy and lose weight as a by product of a healthy lifestyle to live longer.

Kind regards

p.s. If you wanted read more about living a longer life, I found the above quote in the above on this website.

Fuel in Car - Weight Loss Metaphor

Metaphors are fantastic ways to help us look at a subject in a slightly different way by applying one of life's function to another. In this case linking the fuel in the car to a healthy lifestyle in which we can lose weight.

Think of the body like a well oiled machine, like a car, all parts working in harmony with each other, each knowing their function and performing it well. Imagine this beautiful machine at it's very best, being looked after and cared for. If you start to mistreat the machine, giving it low grade fuel, letting it sit idle for a while imagine how this can impact the machine. continue to see the beauty in your machine and feed it the oil it needs and take it out for a zip now and again.

Metaphors can be a powerful way of encouraging the subconscious mind to think in a new way and help us lose weight and keep it off.

I will share more weight loss metaphors with you all over the coming weeks.

Take care.

Supporting, Not Shaming, People to Lose Weight

A recent study has shown that shaming people into weight loss does not help and in effect makes the whole situation worse.

Psychologist and researcher from theFlorida State University College of Medicine Angelina Sutin, states:

“Weight discrimination, in addition to being hurtful and demeaning, has real consequences for the individual’s physical health,”
source - nbcnews.com

Support is the key with kindness and compassion, as we know from previous post 'Weight Loss and Guilt' does not work in aiding weight loss.

Rebecca Puhl, deputy director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University makes a really interesting point regarding the psychology of weight loss and how the best way to lose weight:

Moving forward, she hopes that research like this can help public health campaigns “shift focus from just a number on the scale” to a conversation focusing more on individual health. “We want people to engage healthy behaviors, regardless of their body size.”
source - nbcnews.com

This is the key that we at Mind Body Weight Loss keep saying that to lose weight work on the mind and the body will follow and the best way to change your behaviour is through some of the mind techniques we share on this blog and our website.

The Frogman.me puts it like this:

"Please stop making us eat your words. They are very… fattening."

Which is a very succinct way of saying support me don't berate me. It is not tough love it is just unkind, Love, Kindness, Compassion and Support is needed not hurtful words as demonstrated below by Sarah Johnson illustrations.

I hope you found this helpful and can now share with those around you the best way to support you, if not sign up to eNewletter and we will send lots of information to support to get your new healthy behaviours on track.

Take care and speak soon.

Watch Your Weight Loss

I really like this picture above as it demonstrates what can happen from just a thought. The power of a thought is not just a quote it is embedded deep in Philosophy, Self Help and Religion:

As the Buddha said "All that we are is the result of what we have thought" and the quote in the picture above demonstrates this. The good thing is the past is over and right here, right now we can change our thoughts to be what ever we want them to be. We did posts on how to do this called Affirmations For Weight Loss.

So lets change the words in the picture slightly to apply it only to weight loss:

Watch your Weight Loss Thoughts for they become your Weight Loss Words.

Watch your Weight Loss Words for they become your Weight Loss Actions.

Watch your Weight Loss Actions for they become your Weight Loss Habits.

Watch your Weight Loss Habits for they become your Weight Loss Character.

Watch your Weight Loss Character for they become your Weight Loss Destiny.

Seeing it written like this helps us see the power of our thoughts to enable us to achieve our weight loss (or any other) goals.

Wishing you a great day.

Desiring Weight Loss

The quote above by Eric Thomas helps demonstrate the way to develop your desire to lose weight. In the Silva Method, they say that we need 3 things to action change in our life; Desire, Belief and Expectancy. This quote helps us understand and develop our desire:

"When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breather then you will be successful"
Eric Thomas

It is extended upon by a Zen Buddhism Story which really made us think.

A hermit was meditating by a river when a young man interrupted him. "Master, I wish to become your disciple," said the man. "Why?" replied the hermit. The young man thought for a moment. "Because I want to find God."

The master jumped up, grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, dragged him into the river, and plunged his head under water. After holding him there for a minute, with him kicking and struggling to free himself, the master finally pulled him up out of the river. The young man coughed up water and gasped to get his breath. When he eventually quieted down, the master spoke. "Tell me, what did you want most of all when you were under water."

"Air!" answered the man.

"Very well," said the master. "Go home and come back to me when you want God as much as you just wanted air."

The Silva Method explains the developing of Desire, Belief and Expectancy as:

In working with our students we have discovered that lasting success with any health-related goal—whether it’s to shake off a minor ailment or reduce the symptoms of a serious illness—can only happen when you condition your mind for 3 outcomes:

  • Develop a deep desire for your goal.
  • Whole-heartedly believe that this goal is possible.
  • Fully expect this goal to happen.

We call this thought process Desire-Belief-Expectancy or D-B-E, and although it may sound simple on the surface, mastering it requires a significant level of control over your subconscious mind.
